Strawberry Season is Here!

Strawberries are here!  Have you ever taken your kids strawberry picking?  It is so much fun!  We go every year.  Two of our favorite local spots are Patterson Farm and Carrigan Farms.  We pick lots and lots so we can eat some, freeze some, and make jam with some.  Try it out!  I promise you will have a great time!

Saturday, April 28 - Latta Plantation: Civil War Soldier For a Day

REGISTER NOW!
Boys and girls ages 8-12 will be mustered into the Northern and Southern armies for a day! This one day version of our popular summer Civil War Soldier Camp will take children back in time for a Civil War experience they will never forget! After learning about soldier life, they will drill, battle, and end the day with a graduation ceremony. Children will receive a Civil War kepi (hat) to keep and other equipment will be loaned to them for the day.

Saturday, April 28 - Pitch, Hit, and Run

Pitch, Hit & Run is intended to encourage youth participation and emphasize the FUN element of baseball and softball competition. 
 

The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age group at the Local Competition, will be awarded and invited to advance to the Sectional Competition.  Participants will have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2012 MLB All-Star Game.

When: 3:30 PM (Registration begins at 3:30, competition at 4)
Who: Boys and girls ages 7-14: Boys and girls will have the opportunity to compete and be awarded separately in four age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14.  Age is determined as of July 17, 2012.
How: All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of competition.

Long Lasting Bubbles

Oh yes, it is that time of the year. The kids are dying to get outside and play. The sun is shining and what is more fun than bubbles? Oh how kids love blowing bubbles.

But those bubbles get expensive when the bubble solution goes so fast. And my kids definitely go through it fast! My solution is to make my own bubble mixture for the kids.

Long Lasting Bubble Solution
Ingredients:
  • 1oz Dishwashing Detergent (Joy, Dawn or Palmolive work best)
  • 1oz Glycerin
  • 1 Cup of Water

Mix ingredients together ...
