Auditions for Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr.

Davidson Community Players

August 26, 2015
Davidson Community Player’s Connie Company is holding open auditions for the Fall youth musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr. A high-spirited musical filled with jazz, intrigue, and fun flappers! This musical follows Millie as she moves from a small town into the big city in search of a new and more modern life! But as exciting as the roaring 20’s can be in New York City, it also has its villains and evil wrongdoings. With catchy songs and fun characters, this musical will have the whole town dancing the Charleston!

Auditions for Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr. will be held on Tuesday, September 8th from 7pm-9pm and Wednesday, September 9th from 4:30pm-6:30pm at Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour Street in Davidson. The audition will consist of cold readings from the show, a song and a short dance routine. Please note: an accompanist will be provided, acapella is not encouraged. Tap shoes are encouraged, but not required.

Youth ages 8-20 are invited to audition. Callbacks will be held on Monday, September 14th from 5pm-7pm.  Auditionees should plan to arrive at the start of the audition and stay for the entire session. Actors at all levels of experience are encouraged to attend. Please bring 16 bars of a song that shows off your vocal range and ability to act through a song, as well as a recent picture, resume or list of theatre experience, and a list of conflicts for the September through November time frame.

Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr. is part of the Connie Company’s Youth Production season and requires strong singer/actors who move well along with strong singer/dancers. The production will be directed by Katie Mullis, with musical direction by Vicki Harvell. Rehearsals will begin in late September/early October. Production dates are November 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15.
