Activate Community Through Theatre (ACT) celebrates the holiday season with A Charlies Brown Christmas by Charles M. Schulz based on the television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson with the stage adaptation by Eric Schaeffer and special arrangement with Arthur Whitelaw and Ruby Persson  opening Friday December 9th at 7pm.

ACT Artistic Director, Dr. Wrenn Goodrum, who directs the play, is thrilled to bring her favorite Holiday TV Special to the stage.  Based on the Peanuts characters created by Charles M. Schulz and the 1965 TV special,  Goodrum says, ‘this production “strikes just the right multi-generational chord and leaves you with the warmth of childhood memories wrapped up in a tale of the true meaning of the season.”  The TV Special celebrates its 50th anniversary this year as it follows a depressed Charlie Brown (because of the never-ending holiday commercialism) as he tries to find the true meaning of Christmas.   Thankfully, Linus is there to help him in this adaptation of the cartoon classic.  Goodrum says the cast will be roller blading, skating and dancing to the tunes of VinceGuaraldi’ in proper Peanuts style with musical direction by Vicky Harvell and choreography  by Emily Kay Deuver.
