Taste more chili than ever before, wash it down with a cold beer or glass of wine and rock out to the live
music of Chasin’ Fame and Back Road. Check out the food and craft vendors, hang out with your kids in the HUGE Kids Zone and enjoy a crisp autumn day.

While there is so much to do at the event, you can’t forget about the chili! Grab your spoon at the gate and pick your favorite chili; come early if chili is your draw because when the chili is gone, it’s gone!

The official judging of the chili is an art within itself. Judges scrutinize every sample in a blind tasting and make their selections based on taste, texture and seasonings. It is a hard-fought competition and this year promises to be hotter than ever with many 2013 cookers vowing they would be back to take on the challenge in 2014!

First prize in the Home Town Cooker category is a whopping $1,000, with a $300 second prize and $150 third prize. Custom cutting boards with an engraved inscription are presented to the winners for Home Town Cooker, People’s Choice and the Best Restaurant Chili. Contestants agree the People’s Choice award is just as coveted as the judges’ choice. The People’s Choice allows the crowd to participate in the judging by choosing the chili they like best. And even if a chili isn’t “award-winning”, cookers still have a chance to win the Spirit Award, which goes to the cooking team with the most creative booth, energy and personality. A heated competition along with great entertainment, make this a fun event for all ages.

Also pleasing to event goers is the $10 admission with kids under 9 getting in free, which includes all of the chili tastings, entertainment and Kids Zone.

Proceeds from this event benefit programs such as the School Backpack Project, SCAN, Health Reach and other charities supported by the four Rotary clubs hosting the event.  The 2013 event attracted over 5,000 people and raised $40,000 for local charities. Over $125,000 has been raised since the first annual event of 2009.

With the support of sponsors like Budweiser, MI Connections, Iredell Health System, Nationwide, Saks Orthodontics, First Bank, Charles W. Roberts Pediatric Dentistry, Hospice of Iredell, LangTree Lake Norman, Wells Fargo, Randy Marion, Lake Norman Benefits, Guardians of the Children and many others, the 201 event is sure to deliver more fun than ever before!

This event is hosted by The Rotary Clubs of Mooresville, Mooresville-Lake Norman, Top of the Lake, and Troutman. At least two members from each club serve on a steering committee that meets once a week almost year around to make this event the best it can be.

The band won’t stop playing till the last prize is awarded, the last funnel cake is served and the last child has jumped off the inflatable slide. So come early, stay late and support your Community!!!
