Auditions for Davidson Community Players
Teen Summer Stock Series
Davidson Community Players’ The Connie Company is seeking energetic and imaginative young adults for its Teen Summer Stock Series of Grease and Almost, Maine. All actors ages 14-20 are invited to audition.
Grease auditions will be held on Saturday, May 30th from 10 a.m. until noon at Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour Street in Davidson. Those interested should bring 16 bars of a song that shows off their vocal range and ability to act through a song, as well as a recent picture, resume or list of theatre experience. An accompanist will be provided, a capella is not encouraged. In all cases, auditionees should plan to arrive at the start of the appropriate audition and stay for the entire session. Rehearsals will take place August 3 – 14 with performances dates of August 14 – 16. This production will be directed by Katie Mullis.
Almost, Maine auditions will be held on Saturday, May 30th from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour Street in Davidson. Those interested should bring a recent picture and resume or list of theatre experience. In all cases, auditionees should plan to arrive at the start of the appropriate audition and stay for the entire session. Auditions will consist of theatre exercises and cold readings from the script. Rehearsals will take place July 20 – 31, with performances dates of July 31 – August 2. This production will be directed by Sylvia Schnople.
If you wish to audition for both shows, those actors may come from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The Teen Summer Stock Series is a two-week intensive production aimed at the advanced young adult performer. To simulate a summer stock theatre company, actors will rehearse Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. with one weekend of performances. Davidson Community Players is a non-profit organization established in 1965 to produce theatre that entertains, enriches, and encourages community participation in the dramatic arts. In 1996 The Connie Company was founded and is the youth community theatre company of Davidson Community Players. Components include education classes, camps, and workshops, as well as, full productions geared toward young people. Both organizations have a long standing record of providing creative, authentic and affordable opportunities for both children and adults.
