Our neighborhood pool opened this week!  I guess that means summer is right around the corner!  Did you know that the Fountain at Birkdale Village is open?  That is an excellent place to bring the kiddos!  This weekend is the Race City Festival in Downtown Mooresville.  This Saturday night,  80's in the Park returns to Bailey Road Park, and then Sunday evening Concerts on the Green happens on the Green in Downtown Davidson.  Get out your blankets and camp chairs and get ready for an awesome weekend!

Birkdale Animal Hospital Kids Triathlon Series

Get Outside and Play a Whole New Way

One of our biggest challenges as parents in our “plugged-in” society is creating fun and creative ways to get our kids outside.  Huntersville Familiy Fitness and Aquatics (HFFA) has partnered with Birkdale Animal Hospital to present a Kids Triathlon Series for youth ages 4-14. This is a great way to teach great habits that will last a lifetime!

The next event is Sunday, May 20 at 1:00PM.  Then, the next 2 events are Sunday, June 24 and Sunday, July 15.

Sunday, May 20 - Birkdale Animal Hospital Kids Triathalon Series at HFFA

The Kids Triathlon Series was created to encourage youth to have fun staying active. By focusing on swim, bike & run, our hope is that participants will build lifelong healthy habits of setting goals for physical achievement.
Distances are appropriate for all children to achieve successful completion of the race.

The Huntersville Farmer's Market is new & improved for the 2012 season!  We want buyers to be able to make 1 stop to get all of their produce needs! The Growing Kids Club is our new addition to the Farmer's Market. Monthly activities for the kids and parents create a family oriented Market experience. We will have the The Biggest Grower Contest, where adults and kids will have the oportunity to grow their own watermelon and pumpkin. We will provide the seeds!  Our next Growing Kids Club event is May 20th we will have a moon bounce out at the market!

Farm Fresh MarketPlace and Organic Christians are hosting Food Revolution Day in conjunction with The Jamie Oliver Foundation. It is a global initiative to stand up for real food. Raise awareness and to arm people with the knowledge and tools to make healthier food choices. Activities are ongoing throughout the day so guests can stop by for just one activity or enjoy the entire celebration!All ages are invited to celebrate food, history, local culture, and healthy cooking at Food Revolution Day.
We would love to share about local agriculture and where food comes from with children.  This will be helpful in parents sharing the healthy food choice initiative with their kids...fun filled day! Prizes, coupons, and plenty of snacks!
