“The Princess & The Magic Pea” Opens in Mooresville

A Children’s Theatre Production

 

The Mooresville Community Children’s Theatre (MCCT) presents their winter “play with a purpose” and theatrical production of The Princess & The Magic Pea directed by Dr. Wrenn Goodrum. The Princess and The Magic Pea is based on the story by Danish author Hans Christen Andersen, best remembered for his fairy tales. A cast of 45 youth actors ages 6-18, will tell this fun adventure through acting, dance and music!! Two of the cast members, Haley Vogel and Lucas DeVore, are writing original music for the show. This show is appropriate for ALL AGES. Dress up is encouraged!!

What is a “Play with a Purpose”?
The cast will be collecting new and gently used children’s books at each performance and during The Princess & Prince Tea Party (Saturday, January 30, 2016). The books will be donated to Mooresville youth reading programs and schools in partnership with the Mooresville Public Library.
 
Performances Open to the General Public:
Saturday, February 6, 7:00 pm; Sunday, February 7, 3:00 pm; Friday, February 12, 7:00 pm; Saturday, February 13, 7:00 pm; and Sunday, February 14, 3:00 pm. Tickets are available through the MCCT website.

Adult $15, Senior $12 (ages 62+), Student $10 (ages 3~18). This production is rated for all audiences. All shows are held at The Charles Mack Citizen Center, 215 N Main Street, Mooresville, NC 28115.
 
About the Director
Dr. Wrenn Goodrum is a talented and dedicated artist and educator with a passion for her work and her community. She has been working in children’s theatre for over 30 years. This will be Wrenn’s second production with the Mooresville Community Children’s Theater, her first was the 2015 winter drama Oliver Twist. She is the founder of ACTivate Community Through Theatre which was incorporated in 2010. Previously she founded the All Children's Theatre (ACT) in Providence, Rhode Island in 1987 and was the Artistic/Executive Director until 2009 when she re-located.

Mooresville Community Children’s Theater (MCCT) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing theatre performance, production and viewing experiences for Mooresville and surrounding communities with an emphasis on including children ages 6-18 who have not been exposed to the world of Performing Arts.
