UFO Sightings on North Tryon Street

Discovery Place Launches Uptown Community
Scavenger Hunt for Ticket Giveaway

The aliens have landed! Discovery Place confirms that UFO spaceships have landed in various N Tryon Street establishments as part of a public scavenger hunt.

Beginning Monday, July 21, fifteen UFOs will be hidden throughout N Tryon Street businesses, located between 8th and Trade Streets. Once found, each UFO will be redeemable for two tickets to Discovery Place, including entry to the Alien Worlds and Androids exhibition, plus two tickets to Discovery Place’s Charlotte Observer IMAX ® Dome Theatre to see the IMAX space adventure, Hubble.

“North Tryon is home to many of Charlotte’s wonderful restaurants, businesses and cultural and community partners, and this scavenger hunt lets the public explore the area and programs happening here,” said Discovery Place president and CEO, Catherine Wilson Horne. “From our own new TryOn Science exhibits to Charlotte Center City’s Pocket Park programs and food trucks for lunch crowds, this is another great way for us to bring the excitement of what’s happening on North Tryon to the public.

Each day, clues about the UFOs’ locations will be released on Discovery Place’s social media sites. Follow Discovery Place on Twitter (@discoveryplace), Facebook (facebook.com/discoveryplace) and Instagram (@discoveryplace) to find them. If you spot one of the UFOs, follow the instructions on the tag with information on how to redeem tickets for Alien Worlds and Androids and Hubble.

Alien Worlds and Androids presents the possibility of life existing beyond Earth through the use of robots, telescopes, space probes and high-tech laboratories. Visitors will join scientists in their search for alien life as they explore technologies used by NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to examine remote solar systems and Earth’s extreme environments, discover alien-like creatures found on our planet and learn about scientific developments of robots and androids with artificial intelligence.
